New Year - New Look

This is the best time of year to shop.  And it's the best time of year to put away all the distracting clothes in your closet and start off with a new look.  Watch my favorite blogger Garance Dore discuss French style with my favorite editor Emmanuelle Alt (notice her "unbrushed" hair, natural makeup, and dramatic coat) and discuss the styles shown at Paris Fashion Week.  This video was made a few years ago, but the clothes still look classically modern -

Here is what I'm considering for a fresh look in 2016 -

And since everything was gray and black, I had to throw in a little color -

How are you going to look in the new year?

Inspiration for women's office attire

This outfit is right for so many reasons.  First of all, the skirt and top fit her perfectly.  They are body skimming and flattering but modestly appropriate for the office.  The ruffles on her top are balanced by the large structured bag.  The nude heels lengthen her legs and prevent the outfit from being too matchy-matchy.

She said she bought her top at J. Crew a few years ago.  Although you can't still buy this exact top, J. Crew always has a lot of fashionable office attire.  Here are some options for you -

Finding art and style around Atlanta

Leaving the suburbs behind, I took another tour of Atlanta.  I started in Poncey-Highland.

And I found this guy -

I love his outfit.  It is colorful and preppy, but he pulls it off in a cool way.  So cool that he fell asleep.

I wandered down the street and came across an old school laundromat.  The exterior of the facility is packed with graphic reflections in the windows, and the tree (with its full-street shadow) creates a generous frame.

I love finding people in their world -

A little further down the street, I found some vibrant wall art in Inman Park -

And a rusted, elaborate iron gate in front of modern graffiti.

Inside Cobbler Union, I found art of different kind.  The space feels like a refined, masculine artist's loft and features their hand-crafted shoes in a casually sophisticated way.

This is my favorite (simple and sleek with a pop of color) -

I had a lovely conversation with Daniel, the co-owner from Argentina, who said they want the store to present the highest quality of product without a pretentious attitude.  Men, if you want to step up your game, this is where you need to start.

It's so fun to discover art around the city and to find people who are contributing to the increasingly stylish Atlanta culture.  I'll do more exploring of Atlanta tomorrow...

Krog Street Market

Krog Steet Market resides in the building that was originally Atlanta Stove Works and then spent some time as Tyler Perry's studio.  There are now a plethora of eating options.  You can find a full list here

My favorite place was the chocolate shop - Xocolatl (pronounced "chock-oh-lah-tul").

They roast the cocoa beans and make the chocolate in the shop right there.  I had the Nicaragua, which is 72% dark chocolate.  It was absolutely delicious.

Do you have a favorite spot in the Market?

Signature jewelry

If you look at enough of my photographs, you will notice that I wear the same jewelry over and over.  Almost everyday, I wear my triangle necklace that I purchased years ago at Dora Rae in Atlanta -

If I want to look more put-together, I will throw on my silver hoop earrings from James Avery and my wooden ring also from Dora Rae.   Occasionally, I'll branch out with other jewelry, but those items are really my signature.  I can get dressed faster when I make less decisions every morning.

Here are some items that you may want to make your signature -
